Richard "Dick" Matthew Hacmac, 86, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Owatonna Hospital.

He was born February 7, 1928 in Austin, Minnesota the son of Frank and Matilda (Benesh) Hacmac. He attended country school and graduated Owatonna High School in 1945. He attended college at Antioch College in Ohio and then went to China with Hunger Fighters to educate the Chinese on farming and using equipment. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota. Dick farmed with his parents. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He married Irma Fritze on July 1, 1951 in Owatonna. Dick worked for the Owatonna Post Office for 30 years. Dick and Irma were egg and pork farmers.

Dick enjoyed woodcarving. He was a member of the Steele County Exchange Club, Pork Producers, a 4-H Leader, Art Center volunteer and Riverbend volunteer. Dick was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and "Lived his life to Glorify God".

He is survived by his wife, Irma of Owatonna; four daughters, Nancy (Craig) Edwards of Ada, Mary Sund of Maple Plain, Kristen (Jim) Vipond of Chaska, and Karin (Rob) Hoek of Holland; six grandchildren, Susan (Tim) Hansberger, Jack Edwards (friend Lindy Currie-Suntken), Rachel Vipond, Jacob Vipond, Marcus Sund and Andrew Sund; two great grandchildren, Eli and Evan Hansberger; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Kenneth Haugen, Betty Fritze, Milton (Katie) Fritze, and Elaine (Bob) Erb; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark Hacmac, brothers, Melvin and Harvey, sisters, Mildred and Joy.

The family would like to thank the Koda Living Community Aspen Staff for their kindness and care given to Dick and the family.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with The Reverend Mark Rosenau officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Center Cemetery in Somerset Township. Memorials are preferred to Koda Living Community or donor''s choice.
