Retired Woodville Township Farmer Dies In Waseca Friday

Waseca County Resident 66 Years Survived by 10 Children

Funeral Services will be held in Meriden Monday afternoon for Carl J Schroeder, 76, prominent Woodville township farmer in Waseca County whose death occurred Friday at the home of his son Ernest Schroeder of Waseca.

The services will be held at the Ernest Schroeder home at 1:30 and at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Meriden at 2 o'clock. Rev. John Voelk ill officiate. Internment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery.

Remains will be taken to the Ernest Schroeder home tomorrow, and will lie in state there tomorrow after 3 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Mr. Schroeder was born in Hamburg, Germany, May 11, 1866, and came to America at an early age. He followed the occupation of farming and made his home in Waseca county for 66 years, moving there from Steele county where the family settled in 1876.

Surviving are seven sons and three daughters. They are Ewald of Meriden, Ernest of Waseca, Herman of Lemond, Carl of Waseca, Paul of Meriden, Herbert and Arnold of Mor-

MRS. CARL SCHROEDER

Final rites for Mrs. Carl Schroeder were held Sunday at two o'clock at the Meriden Lutheran church, of which she was a member, with Rev. A. C. Harrer officiating. Internment was made in the cemetery near the church. The pallbearers were Henry Wicklow, Henry Luhman, Ernest Abbe, John Schuldt, Louis Abbe, and J. H. C. Schuldt.

Caroline Altenberg was born in Germany May 6, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Altenberg. When a young girl she came to America with her parents, who settled in Waseca county, where she lived six years until her marriage to Carl Schroeder on January 10, 1889. After her marriage she came to Meriden to live and and resided until her death, which occurred last week Wednesday at the Memorial hospital in Waseca following an operation for gallstones performed the Sunday before. Her illness dated from Friday, June 27.

Mrs. Schroeder is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest Woker of Morristown, Mrs. Alfred Woker of Lemond, and Mrs. Erwin Wilker of Meriden; seven sons, Herbert, Arnold, Paul, Ewald, Carl, Ernest and Herman, all of Meriden; a brother, Fred Altenberg; three sisters, Mrs. Louis Enzenauer of Raymond, Mrs. Fred Schmidt of Waseca, and Mrs. Theodore Pump of Meriden; and 15 grandchildren.
