Kaspar was born January 6, 1929 on the family farm near Malmo, Nebraska to James A. and Louise E. (Petrus) Kaspar. He attendend Dist. 75 School and graduated from Prague High School in 1946. Jim was inducted in the U.S. Army on October 7, 1946 at Ft. Crook, Nebraska. He served during WWII. He was honorably discharged on March 24, 1948 at Camp Stoneman, California. He was a lifelong farmer. He served on the board of the Prague National Cemetery, Prague School Board and also drove school bus for 30 years. He was active in American Legion Post #254 of Prague and was a life member of the ZCBJ Lodge of Prague. Jim, and his friend, Laverna Skarka, enjoyed dancing, listening to polka music and visiting area casinos. He also enjoyed keeping score at volleyball and basketball games, marked first downs at football games and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by Loving companion of 16 years, Laverna Skarka of Rogers, Nebraska, Son & daughter-in-law: Bryan (Dorene) Kaspar of Fremont, Nebraska, Daughters Susan Poulson of Rochester, Minnesota, Roxann Fritze of Marion, Iowa. Sisters Evelyn Hindmarsh and Norma Nickelson both of Lincoln, Nebraska. Four grandchildren, Brandon Fritze of Carmel, Indiana, Nathan Fritze of Iowa City, Iowa, Dustin Kaspar of Malmo, Nebraska, and Dallas Kaspar of Omaha, Nebraska. |

She died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont. She was born Jan. 27, 1932, in rural Prague to Ignac and Ella (Mares) Curda. She grew up in the Abie/Prague area, attending Nimburg Grade School and graduating from Prague High School in 1950. She married James V Kaspar on March 31, 1951. After rasing three children, she attanded Bahner School of Cosmetology in Fremont. She worked 8 1/2 years for Mary Gilespie at the My Fair Lady Beauty Salon and 1 1/2 years at Haven House Nursing Home, both in Wahoo. After moving to Fremont in 1990, she began working at Wal-Mart. She received her 1`5-year Service Award in March, 2005. She was a 50-year member of the ZCBJ, now known as the Western Fraternal Life Association. Survivors include: a son, Bryan (and wife, Dorene) Kaspar of Fremont; two daughters, Susan Poulson of Rochester, Minn., and Roxann Fritze of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister Donna (Mrs. Arnold) Hines of Morse Bluff and four grandchildren. Chaplain Joyce Miller will officiate Saturday's service. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Prague National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to UNMC Oncology (Grace Kaspar Memorial Fund) and Odyssey Hospice. |
