[7] Delmar William Fritze, 76, of Hackensack, Minn., died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn. Funeral services will be held Jan. 29 at noon at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Walker, with Pastor Mark Widman officiating. Lunch will be served following the service. Visitation will be Jan. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dennis Funeral Home in Walker and one hour prior to services at the church. He was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Owatonna, Minn. to Albert and Elsie (Schley) Fritze. He grew up in Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army but was honorably discharged early because he was needed at home to care for his family. A family member introduced him to Betty Epland, and they were married May 4, 1957, at the Emmons Lutheran Church in Emmons, Minn. The couple farmed for a few years before he took a job with a small fertilizer company. They subsequently moved to Mapleton, where he worked for Monsanto Fertilizer Co. for 10 years. The family then moved to Hackensack and ran Brite-Vue Resort for nine years. During this time he also worked as a contractor and continued in that profession after their time at the resort. Adter retiring from construction, he spent his time as a cabinet-maker. The couple also moved closer to Hackensack within the last 14 years. His favorite hobbies were fishing and woodworking. In later years, any time spent with his grandchildren brought a twinkle to his eye. He was a very hard worker but throughout his life, he always set aside time to spend with his children. He loved visiting with people and had a special connection with kids. He was a man who was honorable to his word and was sustained by his deep faith. Hid presence in the lives of his family and friends will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Larry (Deborah) Fritze, Jeanne (Jim) Henley and Loren (Angie) Fritze; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Jonathan, Joseph, Matthew, Andrew, Lili, Jed, Abbi and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren, Miriam and Sarah; two sisters, Irma (Dick) Hacmac and Elaine (Bob) Erb; one brother, Milton (Katie) Fritze; one brother-in-law, Ken Haugen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
