He was born April 5, 1920 in Aurora Township, Minnesota the son of Sam and Anna (Silrum) Prestegard. Erling grew up in Aurora Township, and attended country school and Owatonna High School. He married Lorraine Middlestadt August 19, 1942 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna, the couple then farmed together in Aurora Township. Erling was a member of the NFO, the District 2136 School Board, and a life member of Aurora Lutheran Church. Erling worked as a custodian for the Owatonna Schools for sixteen years. His greatest joy was having his grandchildren and great grandchildren spend time with him at the farm. Erling and Lorraine enjoyed the card club that they were with for many years. Lorraine died August 30, 2001. He is survived by his sons Kevin Prestegard and friend (Shelly Shea) and Mark (and April) Prestegard both of Owatonna, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and his sister Audrey Klima of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday March 20, 2011 from 3-6 P.M. and at Aurora Lutheran Church on Monday from 10-11 A.M. Funeral services will be held Monday March 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Aurora Lutheran Church with Reverend Ron Barth officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Lutheran Cemetery in Havana Township. | 4. | Her obituary was published on her Find-A-Grave Memorial on 10/29/2011. OWATONNA--Lorraine Bertha (Mrs. Erling) Prestegard of Owatonna, died Thursday, Aug. 30 at the Owatonna Hospital. She was 80. Lorraine Middlestadt was born Feb. 6, 1921 in Havana Township, daughter of Emil and Ida (Muedeking) Middlestadt. On Aug. 19, 1942, she married Erling Prestegard at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Following their marriage, the couple farmed. Mrs. Prestegard helped with the operation of the family farm, caring for animals. she was a member of Aurora Lutheran Church where she was active in circle and taught Sunday School. She worked at the Aurora Diner since it opened 37 years ago. She was also a member of the Country School District 71 Mothers Club. She enjoyed going for drives, eating out with her husband, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Lorraine Prestegard is survived by her husband, Erling; two sons, Kevin Prestegard and Mark (and April) Prestegard, all of Owatonna; a brother, Les Middlestadt of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. The funeral will be at 11 A. M. Wednesday at Aurora Lutheran Church, Owatonna. The Rev. Paul Nelson will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Havana Township. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. |
