Dennis Miller. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home and Crematory, Manchester, with a rosary service at 4 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley Richmond of Ryan; six children, Lois (Joe) McNamara of Ryan, Andy "Butch" (Lynn) Richmond of Ryan, Linda (Daniel) Fangmann of Earlville, Tom Richmond (special friend Debbie Schwab) of Cedar Rapids, Dee (Mark) Kolka of Ryan and Shannon (Philip) Payne of Ryan; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a brother, William (Lorene) Richmond of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters, Donna Cones of Cedar Rapids and Rita Corrigan of Cedar Rapids. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Richmond. He was born July 7, 1930, to Howard and Irene (English) Richmond, in Anamosa, Jones County, Iowa. He attended St. John's Catholic School in Ryan. On April 2, 1951, he was united in marriage to Shirley Dirks at Anamosa. Together they lived in Ryan. Six children were born to the union. Donald was employed by Kwik Way Manufacturing from April 12, 1962, to Dec. 31, 1991. He also was a custodian at St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 1990 to 1998 and he worked at Night Hawk Security from 2000 until 2002. Donald was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a member of Machinists Union Local 831. He enjoyed visiting, helping the elderly, and most of all his family. |
