7. | He worked as a school teacher on 06/01/1870 in St Louis, St Louis, Missouri . [2] |
8. | His obituary was published on his Find-A-Grave Memorial on 08/14/2008. Moritz's mother's given name was Christiane. No other information is available for his parents. He arrived in America with his mother and brothers, Ferdinand and Frederick on 07 Jan 1839 at New Orleans. They departed from Bremen, Germany on the ship Johana George. He married Wilhelmine Schuessler in 1849 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Louis (Independent City), Missouri. Children born to Moritz and Wilhelmine were; Christiane Emilie, Johanna Maria, Friedrich Hermann Moritz, Carl Ernst Hermann, Martha Clara, Louise Mathilde, Otto and an Infant. Moritz must have been married prior to his marriage to Wilhelmine. He is shown in records to have had two children, John and Martin, that were both born prior to 1849. Wilhelmine would have been too young to have been their mother. Moritz was a shoemaker and later a school teacher. He was a teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School in St. Louis (Independent City), Missouri from 1857-1880. The day of death inscribed on his marker is incorrect, according to his death record. The inscription is the 12th of May, but the death record indicates that he died the 6th of May. He died of hemilplegia at the age of 66 years, 7 months, and 12 days. |
