Marvin was born on February 21, 1938 in Kasson, MN to Frank and Hulda (Scherger) Marquardt. He graduated from Dodge Center High School in June of 1955. Marvin joined the Army in 1957 and served until 1959. On September 5, 1959 he married Elaine Engelstad at Pleasant Corners Church in rural Kasson. In 2009, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family. Marvin was previously employed at Gopher Aviation, Underground Construction, VonRuden Manufacturing, Welsh Farms and in 1973, purchased a farm south of Kasson where he continued to live and work until the time of his death. He was a member of the American Legion in Hayfield, MN. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Richard (Jill); daughters, Tamara (Wayne) Alberts and Sheila (Dan) Burton; sister, Carolyn (Bud) Polk; brothers, David (Patty) Marquardt and Larry Marquardt; grandchildren, Jason (Jenny), Eric, Melissa and Jacqueline Marquardt, Weston, DJ (Nicole) and Chloe Alberts, Drew and Breah Burton; and great-grandchild, Gage. Marvin will also be remembered by his coffee friends, Sterling and Ken and his special dog friend, Buster. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Cynthia. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, 10:30 am at the Pleasant Corners United Methodist Church, 21927 '96 650th Street, Kasson, MN with Pastor Karen Seavey, officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service; there will be no reviewal. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Hayfield American Legion. Memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor's choice. Dibble Funeral Home obituary and picture. |
