MRS. SCHROEDER IS DROWNED Wanders Away in the Morning '97 Is Found Later in the Channel to Lake Elysian Half Mile From Home FUNERAL WILL BE HELD TODAY

Mrs. Anna Lucinda Schroeder, wife of Herman Schroeder, aged forty-five years, wandered away from her home Sunday morning about four o'clock, it is thought, and two hours later was found in several feet of water in the outlet of Lake Elysian where she was drowned.

About two weeks ago Mrs. Schroeder suffered a slight stroke of paralysis. Since that time she has had a tendency to wander. For some time past, we are informed, that have been evidence of a growth of some kind in her head, undoubtedly the cause of paralysis. On Saturday evening she appeared in better spirits than for some days. Her two daughters, one from Mason City, Iowa, and the other from Minneapolis, had arrived and the fact of their presence, it is thought, contributed not a little to her improvement. She retired as usual, first admonishing her husband to get as much rest as possible as he had been up almost continuously for several nights. At six o'clock in the morning she was missed. Search was immediately begun and within a short period she was found by her daughter. As she had talked the evening previously about the illness of a neighbor it is thought her intention was to go there and that on the way in her excitement she accidentally fell into the outlet. The theory that she deliberately committed suicide is not credited. Immediately after she was found the authorities at Waseca were notified and in the absence of the coroner County Attorney Maloney came up and viewed the remains. No inquest was deemed necessary.

Mrs. Schroeder was the mother of six children, five of whom survive her. She is also survived by her husband.

The funeral will be held today at the German Lutheran church, Rev. M. Winter officiating. The remains will be laid to rest in the Janesville cemetery.
