FRITZE, George J.

George J. Fritze, of Farmington, beloved husband of Anne (Parcinski) Fritze, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully and with grace at home on Thursday afternoon (October 3, 2002).

Born in West Hartford on November 20, 1916, son of the late Emil and Amanda (Busch) Fritze, he lived in the area all his life and in Farmington the past 49 years. He was a four letter athlete at Bulkeley High School, Hartford and an avid sportsman throughout his life. He attended Dartmouth College and Hillyer College. He was active in a variety of local athletic programs as a young man and particularly enjoyed watching, teaching and encouraging his family's athletic achievements. Mr. Fritze retired from Royal McBee Corp. and Connecticut Natural Gas Corp. A spiritual person, Mr. Fritze was an active communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Farmington, and was a member of the Hartford Elks, Lodge #19 and the West Hartford Regents.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, Mr. Fritze leaves a daughter, Patricia F. Hollingsworth of Concord, NC; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgeanne and Jack Berg of Trumbull; a sister, Eunice Fritze of Glastonbury, and his spirit lives on in his six devoted and loving grandchildren, Brian Berg of NYC, NY, Andrew and Garrett Berg of Trumbull, Fritze-Leigh and her husband John Batts of Valrico, FL, Amanda Hollingsworth of Charlotte, NC, and Elizabeth Hollingsworth of Raleigh, NC.

The funeral procession will be Monday, 9am from the Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10am. in St. Patrick's Church, Farmington. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. Calling hours will be Sunday 4-7pm at the funeral home.
