Elder, James Edward, 67, of Lecanto, died Friday (Dec 19, 1997). Born in Fontana, Kan., he came here six years ago from Westport, Mass. He was a retired Navy veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8189, Moos Lodge 2013 and American Legion Post 155, Crystal River, the Eagles 3992 and the Fleet Reserve Association, Jacksonville. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Fritze, Elder; a son, Larry J., Bedford, N.H.; a brother Leland, Sonora, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy James, Yakima, Wash., and Arlene Rice, Sonora; and two grandchildren. She was a homemaker, and was a member of VFW Post 8189, Moose Lodge 2013, American Legion Post 155 and Fleet Reserve Unit 91. Survivors include her son, Larry, Lewiston, Maine; a grandson, Larry, Lewiston, Maine; a grandson, Jimmy, Jacksonville; a granddaughter, Lisa Weatherford, Orange Park; and three great-grandsons, James Elder, Jacksonville, Tommy and Andrew Weatherford, both of Orange Park.
