DEAN ELLSWORTH FRITZE The memorial service for Dean Ellsworth Fritze will be 11:00 a.m. February 25, 2012, at the Hayfield High School, 9 Sixth Avenue SE in Hayfield, MN. with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.

Dean Ellsworth Fritze, 87, died of complications from a stroke, Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Trinity Care Center in Farmington, MN.

Dean Ellsworth Fritze was born on June 10, 1924, in Le Sueur, MN and graduated from Le Sueur High School. He had a teaching degree in math from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He was united in marriage to Mineva "Mickey" Fritze on August 20, 1949. They moved to Hayfield in 1949, where Dean was a teacher, principal, and later, superintendent of Hayfield Schools. He retired in 1984, and they moved to the twin cities area, living in Apple Valley, Burnsville, and Farmington over the past 26 years. Dean enjoyed his many years in Hayfield. He loved being active in the community, participating in the development of the Hayfield Swimming Pool, Fieldcrest Nursing Home, and the Oaks Golf Club. He was also active at Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing and bridge games. He was very proud to say that he was from Hayfield.

Dean is survived by daughter Judy (Kurt) Kiekbusch, Winona, MN; Michael (Kris)Fritze, Apple Valley, MN; David (Deb) Fritze, Eagan, MN; brother, Ken (Joan) Fritze, brother, Eugene (Sally) Fritze, sister, Joyce (Ian) Gaal, sister, Gloria (Chuck) Hillstead, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mickey, son, Gary, and son, Joel.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Hayfield High School. The family prefers memorials to the American Diabetes Association. The Czaplewski Family Funeral Home of Hayfield is in charge of arrangements. Blessed be his memory.

Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in the Spring. Mineva Edith "Mickey" Fritze, 86, died Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Mineva Edith "Mickey" Madland was born on May 2, 1922, in Winchester, Wisconsin. She grew up in Cottonwood, MN and graduated from Cottonwood High School. She had a teaching degree in music from Concordia College in Moorhead MN. She was united in marriage to Dean Fritze on August 20, 1949, in Cottonwood, MN. They moved to Hayfield in 1949, where her husband was a teacher, principal and later superintendent of the Hayfield Schools. Mickey substitute taught and raised her family. Dean retired in 1984. The couple moved to Apple Valley in 1987, and the past 8 years have resided in Farmington, MN. Mickey enjoyed attending sporting events, playing cards, music, and volunteering and helping others and spending time with her family. She helped with the elderly flue shots in Apple Valley and worked at Dakota County Community Action Council and was a member of Farmington Lutheran Church.

Mickey is survived by her husband, Dr. Dean Fritze, Farmington, MN; daughter, Judy (Kurt) Kiekbusch, Winona, MN; Michael (Kris) Fritze, Apple Valley, MN; Joel (LaMae) Fritze, Hayfield, MN; David (Deb) Fritze, Apple Valley, MN; 1 sister, Mabel (George) Nelson, Brainerd, MN; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 son, Gary.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The family prefers memorials to the American Diabetes Association. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield is in charge of arrangements. Blessed be her memory.
