Following an illness due to a stroke of paralysis 6 weeks ago, Thomas J Marshall, 82 years old, died at 6am May 23, 1927 at the home of his daughter, Mrs Alvah Whitney.

He was born June 19, 1844 in Pennsylvania, and came with his parents to Linn County in 1845, settling near Viola. All the rest of his life, with the exception of about 3 years in Mississippi, was spent on a farm in the vicinity of Central City.

Mrs Marshall died June 17, 1908. Their 3 children survive him. They are Mrs Leta Whitney of Marion, Clyde Marshall of Cedar Rapids and Frank Marshall of Central City.

Burial was in the Jordans Grove Cemetery.
