He was born June 16, 1912 in Maywood, Illinois to Albert and Alice Longley, Naturalized citizens who had immigrated from Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. Mr. Longley began what would be a lifelong career in the insurance industry at the early age of 16, which was briefly interrupted by his enlistment in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1945. It was during the service that he earned the nickname "Curly" which followed him throughout his life. After the war, Mr. Longley worked throughout Illinois before taking a position in Oklahoma City where he worked with Crum & Forester and Adams-Weaver, in addition to serving as a consultant to the State Insurance Commissioner prior to his retirement in 1984. On July 4, 1942, Mr. Longley married Anne Belle Demco who preeded him in death in 1986. He is survived by his children, Richard A. Longley, Edmond, Cynthia A. Longley, OKC, Debra L. Fritze, Phoenix, Az; grandchildren, Jennifer Hibshman, Jason and amy Longley, and Elizabeth, Rebecca, Emily, and Matthew Fritze.
