OBITUARY

Emily Thomas was born at Dybury, Pa., Nov. 10, 1825, and departed this life at Palisade, Neb., May 27, 1825, at the age of 99 years, 6 months and 17 days.

She was educated at Rethany, Pa.

In 1847 she was united in marriage to Malden Marshall, at Clinton, New York. To this union was born two children, Charles Marshall of Cedar years ageRapids, Iowa, and a daughter, Estelle, who married a Mr. Green passed away 23 years ago.

Some time after their marriage they moved to New Hartford, Conn., where Mr. Marshall served in the Connecticut legislature. From there they moved to New York, and from there they moved again to Connecticut. In 1868 they moved to Linn county, Iowa, and lived on a farm for some time. Just before her husbands death, thiry-nine years ago, they moved to Viola, Iowa, Where she resided until 1914, when she came to make her home with her grand-daughter, Mrs. S. H. Blum, in Palisade.

She early in life united with the Universalist church, and always seemed to have faith and confidence in her Lord. She was very patient and loved and respected by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her departure one son, five grand and five great-grandchildren.

Her body was taken to Viola, Iowa for burial by Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Blum, Thursday May 28, after a short funeral service by Rev. Christner at the home of S. H. Blum.
