David "Chief" J. Steffl, 78, of Worthington, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, Minnesota. He was born May 4, 1932 in Redwood County Minnesota, the son of Andrew & Matilda (Heiling) Steffl. He resided in Worthington, Minnesota since 1975.

He married Mary Ann Seifert on April 11, 1953 in Wabasso, Minnesota.

Twelve children were born to this union. David loved his family and enjoyed hunting, working on his computer, coaching fast pitch, following his kids and grandkids many school, music and sporting events and was an avid & vocal fan of all Minnesota sports team.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Steffl, Slayton, MN; children, Steve (Michelle) Steffl of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; Neal (Jane) Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota; Donna Steffl, of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Kathy

(Greg) Vaske from Omaha, Nebraska; Colleen (Steve)Benson of Garretson, South Dakota; Tom (Sue) Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota; Michael Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota; David (Deb) Steffl of Chandler, Minnesota; Patrick (Susette) Steffl of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Barb (Matt) Tabor of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; and 30 grandchildren and 8 great grand children, brother Leonard (Janet) Steffl of Morgan, Minnesota; and sister Daria (Willie) Forster of Fairmont, Minnesota.

David was preceded in death by his parents Andrew & Matilda Steffl, by his son Richard Steffl, daughter Therese Schleppenbach and grandson Tony Schleppenbach.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Worthington.

Mary Ann Bertha Steffl (Seifert), 75 of Worthington, died Sunday, June 3 at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, Minnesota. She was born January 12, 1937 in Redwood County Minnesota, the daughter of Jacob & Alma Seifert. She resided in Worthington, Minnesota since 1975. She married David Steffl on April 11, 1953 in Wabasso, Minnesota. Twelve children were born to this union. Mary enjoyed music, especially singing and passed that love of singing to her family. She was an avid sports fan, loved her family, enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her children, grand children and great grand children.

She is survived by her sister Fidelis Steinke of Springfield, Minnesota and children, Steve (Michele) Steffl of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Neal (Jane) Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota, Donna Steffl, of Sauk Center, Minnesota, Kathy (Greg) Vaske of Omaha, Nebraska, Colleen (Steve) Benson of Garretson, South Dakota, Tom (Sue) Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota, Mike Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota. David (Deb) Steffl of Chandler, Minnesota, Pat (Susette) Steffl of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Barbara (Matt) Tabor of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota and 31 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Jacob & Alma Seifert, her husband David Steffl, son Richard Steffl, daughter Therese Schleppenbach and grandson Tony Schleppenbach. She was also preceded in death by her brother Harold Seifert.

Visitation will be held at Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota on Tuesday, June 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made in Mary Ann Steffl's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
