Fritze died Thursday in Ellsworth Air Force Base Hospital. Buiral will be in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Campbell, Paula & Quinn Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. A memorial has been established. Fritze was born June 27, 1924, at Duluth, Minn., to Robert and Elizabeth (Lampher) Fritze. He was raised in Proctor, Minn., and attanded schools there. He joined the Minnesota National Guard before World War II, and he was stationed in England. During the was he served with the Army in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. After the war he joined the Navy. He retired in 1971. Fritze married Jean Riegert Set. 23, 1948, at Proctor. They moved to Rapid City in 1973. He worked for the Happy Holiday Campground from 1973 until 1984. Fritze was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and U.S. Naval Fleet Reserve. Survivors include his wife, Jean of Rapid City; one son, David Fritze of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter, Adrienne Fritze of Okinawa; his stepparents, Carl and Carrie Nordeen of Eveleth, Minn.; two sisters, Elizabeth Currier of Duluth and Minetta Loukkonen of Eveleth; and one granddaughter. |
