NICHOLAS A. FRITZE, 66, of POINT PLEASANT BEACH, died Monday at home. He was an insurance agent for Allstate, West Long Beach, for 45 years, retiring in August 2000. He was a longtime member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving in several capacities. He acheived not only the crewman rating, but went on to become a full coxwain. He completed many search-and-rescue safety patrols along the Manasquan River. He served his Coast Guard Flotilla (16-10) well, contributing many hours to training other members in the science of search and rescue. Additionally, he undertook the time-consuming task of operations offiver for the flotilla. His dedication to serving the Coast Guard Auxiliary will long be remembered. He was a captain at Marine Max and delivered and demonstrated Sea Ray boats. He was an avid fisherman and animal lover. Born in Maplewood, he was a lifelong resident of the area.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Gimbert Fritze; a son, Eugene R. DeWitt of Bayville, Berkeley; a daughter, Jane A. Reynolds of Point Beach; and two grandchildren, Ami J. Reynolds and Ashley B. Lloyd.

Freinds may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, with a funeral service at 8:30 p.m. at Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, 901 Beaver Dam Road, Point Pleasant.
