| 1. | Her obituary was published in The Stuart News on 01/04/2008 in Stuart, Martin, Florida. [1] Chatham, Mass. Lidabell Pollard The Rev. Lidabell Lunt Pollard, 69, died Dec. 18,2007, at her home. She was born in Rochester, N.Y., and was a resident of Chatham and Vero Beach. She graduated from the Masters School, the University of Connecticut and Yale University with a Master of Divinity, where she was awarded the Mersick Prize for excellence in preaching. She was the director of Christian Education at the Congregational Church in New Canaan, Conn., was a National Specialist in Christian Education, obtained a certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education in chaplaincy, and served churches in Wilton and Farmington before ministering at Congregational Church in New Canaan. She was the first woman in Connecticut to be the senior minister of a church with more than 600 members. Since her retirement in 2001 as the minister emeritus, she was a guest minister in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Florida. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charles F. Pollard; daughters, Amy Faulkner, Sara Congdon; Son, Charles F. Pollard Jr.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Lida Bell Lunt and Clarence Sumner Lunt Jr. Sevices: A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at The Community Church, Vero Beach. Arrangements are by Nickerson Funeral Home, Chatham. |
