Charles Wesley Fritze passed away on March 6, 2020 at Candle Light Cove in Easton, MD. He was 100.

Born on April 17, 1919 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Fritze and Virginia Mae Crooks. Charles grew up in Arbutus in Baltimore County and graduated from Catonsville High School. He went on to attend drafting school and married Catherine Irene Lewis. Charles then joined the US Navy and served during WWII on the ship USS Inflict, a mine sweeper in the Pacific. After he was honorably discharged Charles began his career with Maryland Glass and retired in 1965. In the mid 2000's he moved to Kent Island and then lived at Candle Light Cove for the past 4 years. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Howard Lodge #101 in Elkridge, MD and attended the Kent Island United Methodist Church.

Charles is survived by his daughter Patricia "Pat" Carnes of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren Patricia Ware; Jeanne Geisler; four great grandchildren Ginny and Cary Ware; and Lily and Harriet Starr and step great grandchildren are Kimberly Poitras, Francis Carnes III, and Laura Celaya. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his wife Catherine Fritze in 1995.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 10-11am at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD, where a service will begin at 11am. Burial will follow in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.

On November 10, 1995, CATHERINE LEWIS FRITZE, beloved wife of Charles W. Fritze, devoted mother of Patricia F. Carnes, dear sister of Harry F. Blackburn, loving grandmother of Patricia L. Ware, DVM and Jeanne L. Starr, great-grandmother of Lillian C. Starr.

Services in the Ambrose Funeral Home, Inc., 1328 Sulphur Spring road, Arbutus on Tuesday at 1 P.M. Interment at the convenience of the family. By family request donations in Mrs Fritze's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
