BERG, David Lars

David Lars Berg, 87, of Trumbull, widower of F. Lorraine (Hubbard) Berg, died suddenly at Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, on Monday (June 9, 2008). David was born July 8, 1920 in Leicester, MA, son of the late Lars and Astrid (Hallen) Berg.

He retired to Keene, NH and Clearwater, FL after raising his family in Enfield. A veteran of World War II, David was an Army Corps pilot and attended Texas A&M as an Air Corps Cadet. He enjoyed a 42 year career at Pratt & Whitney in many senior manufacturing management positions retiring in 1980 as Director of Manufacturing for its East Hartford operations.

Dave was a sports and hunting enthusiast and belonged to a variety of New England and Florida country clubs. He was also a member of The Masonic Lodge for over 40 years.

David leaves a daughter, Kathleen Berg of Webster, MA and a son, John "Jack" R. Berg and his wife Gigi of Trumbull and his three grandsons, Brian of Boston, MA, Andrew of Trumbull and Garrett of New York, NY.

David's family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, June 12, from 10-11 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield followed by a funeral procession at 11 a.m. to St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave. (Route 190) Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Hazardville Cemetery. Memorial donations in David's name may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Road, Kensington, CT 06037.
