Hindmarsh, 84, of Pleasant Dale died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Hospice of Tabitha with his family at his bedside. He was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Fremont to George Wesley and Beulah (Northway) Hindmarsh. "Buster" graduated from Fremont High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. He went ashore at Omaha Beach in France with the 104th Infantry Division. After the war, he attended Norfolk Junior College where he played football. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to serve during the Korean War. He remained on active duty and served in the Air Force in assignments in England, Germany, Alaska, Japan, and across the United States. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 with more than 23 years of active military service. He was a faithful community volunteer as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and Babe Ruth League Baseball coach. He was recognized by the Veteran's Administration for 25 years of volunteer service at the VA Medical Center in Lincoln. He also worked with Boy Scout volunteer ushers at the University of Nebraska football games. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Evelyn; two sons, George Ronald Hindmarsh of Monument, Colo., and Glen Christopher Hindmarsh of Pflugerville, Texas; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Evelyn Thimsen of Eugene, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darren "Bud"; and a sister, Ruth Labadie. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 O St., in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present from 3-5 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Hindmarsh was born on Sept. 24, 1922 to James and Louise (Petrus) Kaspar in Malmo. She graduated from Prague High School before working as a teacher and then for the Union Pacific Railroad. She was married to Glen E. Hindmarsh for 54 years and, during Glen's time serving in the United Stated Air Force, they spent time in Germany and were stationed at several Air Force Bases state side before Glen retired at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas in 1968. She was a resident of Tabitha GracePointe, and Goodhouse prior to being admitted to Bryan Hospital. She was involved in activities that included Scouting, School PTO, and various sporting events. Family was very important to her and one of her greatest joys was organizing the annual Kaspar and Sedlacek Family reunions which were usually held in Prague or Wahoo. She also assisted the residents at Village Manor in Lincoln. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Havelock until her move to Tabitha, where she attended service these last few years. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, James of Prague. She is survived by her sons, George Ronald Hindmarsh of Monument, Colo. and Glen Christopher Hindmarsh of Pflugerville, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Jean Nicholson of Lincoln. The funeral service was held on Sept. 17 at Wyuka Funeral Home with Father Troy Schweiger officiating. Burial was in Wyuka Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Family was very important to her and one of her greatest joys was organizing the annual Kaspar and Sedlacek Family reunions which were usually held in Prague or Wahoo, Neb. Evelyn was a dedicated church parishioner and community volunteer. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Havelock and attended faithfully until her move to Tabitha where she attended service these last few years. She also served countless hours assisting the residents at Village Manor in Lincoln.
