Hindmarsh, 84, of Pleasant Dale died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Hospice of Tabitha with his family at his bedside. He was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Fremont to George Wesley and Beulah (Northway) Hindmarsh. "Buster" graduated from Fremont High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. He went ashore at Omaha Beach in France with the 104th Infantry Division. After the war, he attended Norfolk Junior College where he played football. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force to serve during the Korean War. He remained on active duty and served in the Air Force in assignments in England, Germany, Alaska, Japan, and across the United States. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 with more than 23 years of active military service. He was a faithful community volunteer as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and Babe Ruth League Baseball coach. He was recognized by the Veteran's Administration for 25 years of volunteer service at the VA Medical Center in Lincoln. He also worked with Boy Scout volunteer ushers at the University of Nebraska football games. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Evelyn; two sons, George Ronald Hindmarsh of Monument, Colo., and Glen Christopher Hindmarsh of Pflugerville, Texas; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Evelyn Thimsen of Eugene, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darren "Bud"; and a sister, Ruth Labadie. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 O St., in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present from 3-5 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to VFW Post 13, 5721 Johanna Road, Lincoln, NE 68507; or Hospice of Tabitha, 4720 Randolph St., Lincoln, NE 68510.
