Obituary for Kenneth McHugo

Funeral services for Kenneth T. McHugo, 75, were Tuesday, Jan. 31 at St. Peter and Pauls Catholic Church in Mankato, the Rev. Howard Kalb officiating. Concelebrants were Rev. Clayton Haberman of New Richland and Rev. Paul Halloran of Blooming Prairie.

Burial was in St. Ann's Cemetery, Janesville. Mr. McHugo was born Nov. 13, 1908 in Waseca to Thomas J. and Cecelia (Norton) McHugo of Waseca.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1926 and attended Dunwoody Institute of Minneapolis before becoming associated with McLaughlin Electric Co.

His career involved construction of R. E. A. lines as well as high lines in Iowa, the Dakotas, Wisconsin and Minnesota. More recently, he worked in the development of Mankato and New Ulm television signal companies. During semi-retirement he donated time to community, educational and charitable projects in Mankato.

He married Evelyn Schroeder of Waseca in the early 1930s. The couple moved to North Mankato during the late '30s.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in May of 1983, and by two infant children, Sharon Lois and Richard Kenneth.

OBITUARY - Evelyn McHugo Services for Evelyn (Mrs. Kenneth) McHugo, 70, 1004 E. Main St., who died after a long illness Thursday at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. L.D. Redlin officiating. Burial will be in Woodville cemetery, Waseca.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Landkamer's Funeral Home, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Arthritis Foundation.

Mrs. McHugo was born in Velva, N.D., May 19, 1912, to Adolph and Laura (Platte) Schroeder. She grew up in the Waseca area. She married Kenneth McHugo at Emmettsburg, Iowa, in 1934. They were residents of Mankato since 1939. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies' Auxiliary, and was a former volunteer Gray Lady at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital.

Mrs. McHugo is survived by her husband, Kenneth; a sister, Lois (Mrs. I.N.) Evans of Waseca; a brother, Raymond A. Schroeder of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
