[5] Gary Lester Schroeder -- Wykoff WYKOFF -- The funeral for Gary Lester Schroeder will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wykoff, with the Rev. Peter Sestak officiating. Burial will be in Fillmore Cemetery in Fillmore. Mr. Schroeder, 52, of Wykoff, died Saturday (Dec. 10, 2005) at his home. Born Aug. 16, 1953, in Rochester, he was baptized, confirmed, and graduated from school, all in Stewartville. He graduated from Rochester Vocational Community College as a chef. He worked in the food service industry in various positions, most recently at Erdman's Supermarket in Kasson. On April 19, 1975, he married Linda Lerum in Austin. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, was involved with the youth group and choir, and was active in various church and community activities. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, trapping and camping. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph (Jody) of Oronoco; a daughter, Sarah Schroeder of Las Vegas; a granddaughter; his parents, Lester and Janette Schroeder of Stewartville; a brother, Bruce (Vicki) of Racine; and two sisters, Christine Elton of Sparta, Wis., and Barbara (Dean) Polkowske of Stewartville. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church. |
